As my “I” had started to exist merely as an idea, abstract and shapeless, it soon gave birth to a series of paintings I named “Masks”. They were completed very quickly, as if in an attempt to force the “I” to appear without giving it time to think, using portrait as a main motive. Portrait is sometimes fully abstract, depicted with just a few lines, and sometimes gets close to its full form. Bold strokes, rich and stable lines to support composition. Colors can be warm, sometimes cold, applied onto dark background which is often rich in texture, all in purpose to achieve the atmosphere of the unknown. Paintings from this series were supportet by some photo experiments, all done in oil and a few in combination with different materials (paper, sand, glue etc).
